About Andrew Dixon - Saxaphonist
Andrew Dixon is a saxophonist, composer, and educator based in Oakland, California. Originally from Chicago he cut his teeth playing at the New Apartment Lounge, Velvet Lounge, and The Green Mill from the age of 14. He has traveled the world performing at festivals including, Mosaic Music Festival in Singapore, Tokyo Jazz Festival, Philippine Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, and Montreal Jazz Festival to name a few.
Dixon has performed with names such as Jon Faddis, The Roots, Spoon, Lyrics Born, David Binney, Von Freeman, and Arturo Sandoval. Henry Kaiser - Guitars
For the past 40 years, Bay Area-based radical guitarist, ethnomusicologist and composer Henry Kaiser has been at the forefront of creative music. He has released dozens of recordings as a soloist and appeared on over 250 recordings in collaboration with artists as diverse as Larry Ochs, Wadada Leo Smith, Fred Frith, John French, Richard Thompson, David Lindley and many others. He has been nominated for a Grammy for his work with acclaimed director, Werner Herzog and has conducted research as a scientific diver and videographer for the US Antarctic program. He has also been a pioneer in the realm of effects, looping and extended techniques for the guitar.
Max Kutner (NY) - Guitars
Max Kutner is a guitarist, composer and instructor originally from Las Vegas, NV. As an instrumentalist, Max's focus is on new works for the electric guitar as well the promotion of electric guitar in new performance contexts. In addition to his numberous projects as a leader, he has worked alongside Mike Keneally, Sofia Gubaidulina, Ulrich Krieger, the former members of Oingo Boingo, The Grandmothers of Invention (Zappa alumni), Alphonso Johnson, Lili Haydn, Matt Darriau and many others. Presently, Max is also the lead guitarist of the Magic Band with John “Drumbo” French which performs the music of Captain Beefheart around the world and he has previously taught guitar at California Institute of the Arts.
Darren Johnson (NY) - Trumpet
Canada-born trumpeter/improviser/composer/songwriter Darren Johnston has collaborated and recorded with an extremely diverse cross-section of artists. His interests rotate around composing instrumental music, writing songs, and performing all styles of jazz, chamber music, experimental and purely improvised music, as well as traditional music of the Balkans, Greece, and Macedonia. He has performed and/or recorded with luminaries such as ROVA Sax Quartet, Marcus Shelby, Fred Frith, Meklit, Hamid Drake, Myra Melford, Ben Goldberg, Allison Miller, Brass Menazeri Balkan Brass Band, Matt Wilson, Mark Dresser, Marshall Allen, and many others.
Michael Manring - Bass
Oakland-based bassist Michael Manring remains one of the most esteemed and in-demand performers and clinicians in the world. He was the former house bassist for Windham Hill records. As editor Tom Darter wrote in Keyboard magazine after seeing one of his solo concerts, “Forget his astounding technique and musicality; forget his absolute command of his instruments; forget how seamlessly the musical ideas and the performance of them were wedded together...the enlightenment cam most from feeling (seeing, hearing) the joy Michael felt to be playing...his brand of transcendental chops and musical understanding...was all in the service of the final outcome, the joy of making music.”
Steve Roberston - Percussion
Steve Robertson is a professional musical performer and instructor based in Aptos, California. He has over 25 years experience in both private lessons and in the public school system. He is currently the musical director at the Seascape Resort. Steve performs percussion, tabla, drumset, piano, guitar as well as composing and recording. Steve's professional teaching experience includes teaching classes at music camps and giving clinics at jazz festivals. All genres of music but mostly with Jazz, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, and North Indian classical music.

Dahveed Behroozi - Pianist
Dahveed Behroozi is a San Francisco Bay Area based musician whose focus is in jazz, classical, and new music. He is an active player both as a leader and sideman in the Bay Area, nationally and also internationally. In 2012, Dahveed released his first record Games with the bassist Thomas Morgan and the drummer Tim Bulkley. Dahveed has performed and recorded with Thomas Morgan, Tyshawn Sorey, Billy Mintz, Dayna Stephens, Loren Stillman and Dan Weiss just to name a few. Giulio Xavier Cetto - Bass
Giulio Xavier Cetto is an acoustic and electric bassist currently playing in California. For five years, Giulio contributed to the Stockton jazz community by organizing weekly performances and jam sessions. Cetto is an alum of UPacific's Summer Jazz Colony.
